A great turn of events when Black Lion defended its title against Crusaders during the Nkonkobe Ward Championships finals held on the 29 March 2014 at the Fort Hare Sports grounds. Rugby was the only code with a team that faced defending its title with both soccer and netball being won by non title holders Amania and Tornado respectively in the finals.

The tournament running for its second year saw registered clubs who are affiliates of the Nkonkobe Local Football Association, Netball Association and Rugby Association battle it out to be crowned. The knock-out system from preliminary round to finals was used except at the group stages which used the round robin system.
An amount of R200 000 was allocated for tournament. This amount included transport and vouchers for the clubs and catering. The winners walked away with the following prizes: R 500 vouchers for Wards winners, R 1 500 vouchers for 4th place, R 2 500 vouchers and bronze medals for 3rd place, R 5 000 vouchers and silver medals for 2nd place, and 1st place received R 7 000 vouchers, gold medals & floating trophy

With the assistance of Coca Cola (PE), clubs quenched their thirst with Powerade concentrates making sure they were not dehydrated.  Peace Attractions cc provided the tournament with promotional material (t-shirts).
