Council, officials pays tribute to Municipal Manager, Khanyile Christian Maneli

Nkonkobe Municipality, on 27 February, bade farewell to the then municipal manager of the local authority, Mr KC Maneli.

 “As the council charged with the oversight responsibility on Nkonkobe Municipality and its entity; NEDA being one of them, it is only befitting to convey our best wishes to the outgoing municipal manager. Mr KC Maneli’s contribution to this municipality and its people has been impeccable. As this council we have witnessed the sterling work executed under his stewardship while ensuring that the municipality maintains a good audit report in all the years during his term of office as the MM,” said Nkonkobe Mayor, His Worship Anele Ntsangani.

He continued and said: “I have been honoured to get an opportunity to work with someone like you; we’ve made a great team always assisting each other.  We had our ups and downs but we came through them united, pushing service delivery forward. Personally I would like to thank you for the commitment you have showed towards your work. May you be the same where you are going.”

Under Maneli’s leadership, Nkonkobe Municipality recorded notable milestones which include, among others:

· Migration from a disclaimer to qualified audits;

· Building of a new state of the art council chambers in Alice;

· Construction of a state of the art multipurpose centre in Middledrift;

· Recognition by the department of cooperative government and traditional affairs as one of the best performing municipalities; and

· University assistance through the Miss Nkonkobe Beauty Pageant.

“Noting the above, we once again appreciate his good efforts, unmatched passion and commitment in ensuring the advancement of this municipality’s agenda and ensuring that Nkonkobe Municipality delivers sustainable projects to our communities. The executive council and council at large conveys its good wishes to Mr KC Maneli and wishes him everything of the best in his future endeavours… Ndlelantle!” said Ntsangani.

In his response to the many speakers who said only good things about him, Maneli thanked “councillors from both the ruling party and the opposition for working together to make sure that we deliver services to the community”.

He said: “To the Mayoral Committee, I thank you for your support, guidance and the leadership you provided during my term of office. Really I wasn’t expecting this. I’m amazed! I didn’t know I was worth this.”

Maneli sent a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Nkonkobe for a “beautiful send-off”.

“I would like to thank my colleagues and all officials of Nkonkobe Municipality for the respect you gave me while I was serving the institution as the Municipal Manager. I also want to thank my family for the support they gave me; without them I wouldn’t be here .”
