Beauty, brains and all …

The glitz and glamour of Hollywood was at the Middledrift Multi-Purpose Centre when Nkonkobe Municipality held its annual Miss Nkonkobe Beauty Pageant 2014/15 on the 6th December 2014. The choreography, entertainment and stage presence of the contestants were all of the things seen on major pageants and television.

This was a wrap of a journey from school visitations, auditions and a two weeks grooming camp in search of a rough diamond that will shine the best amongst others. Miss Nkonkobe is not just a beauty pageant but an educational program aimed at promoting moral regeneration, patriotism, leadership, community service and basic understanding of local government. It also instills self-confidence, self-worth, self-awareness and self-actualization in young ladies which are needed in order to ensure the grooming of young leaders with visions.

Apart from winning the crown, Nkonkobe Municipality awarded the winner with a one year full university bursary towards a course of choice - showing its commitment towards developing young people and encouraging the importance of education in South Africa

Bongiwe Kavi was crowned the fairest of them all with Mandisa Ntuli, Aviwe Dasha taking 1st and second princess respectively. They walked away with a variety of prices including laptops, external hard drive, printer, mp3 and others. The evening ended on a high note with a performance by Ntando to a full crowd which sent them off the roof with excitement. He performed his much loved songs including Nguwe, Umntu onjani lo and others to an ecstatic crowd.
